BRII Comparisons

To highlight the benefits users can expect from transitioning to the new petaflop system BRII, we gathered performance data of common benchmarks and applications on the other IU systems.

We plan to provide data on the following benchmarks/applications:

The HPC-systems benchmarked include:

  • BigRed
  • Quarry
  • BRII Test System (This system is similar in architecture to Big Red II but smaller in size. The system is provided by Cray for testing purposes.)

IntelMPI

This benchmark reveals the MPI capabilities of the different systems.

HPCC

The HPC Challenge (HPCC) Benchmark.

NAMD

NAMD is a parallel molecular dynamics code for large biomolecular systems.

IUMD

IUMD is a classical molecular dynamics code for simulating dense nuclear matter in white dwarf stars, neutron stars and supernovae.

mlRHO

The mlRho software is a serial program that estimates mutation, recombination, and sequencing error rates from genome sequences.

WRF

The Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) Model.
