IU tests SPEC's OpenACC benchmarking suite candidates

As an associate member of SPEC/HPG, IU is working actively with other organizations to test every candidate of OpenACC benchmkaring suite. All tests were conducted on a Cray system with Nvidia GPUs. IU also contributes source code named MD to this suite.

SPEC annual meeting

January 21 - 23, 2012, Austin, Texas

Representatives from Research Technologies Scientific Applications and Performance Tuning group attended the SPEC annual meeting. The ACCELv1 kit mainly for benchmarking GPUs was extensively discussed in the SPEC high performance group (HPG). Indiana University was awarded for the effort of testing and releasing the SPEC OMP2012 V1.0 suite.

Blind submission of SPEC OMP2012 Kit 21 result on the SPEC web site

Indiana University is one of the first four SPEC HPG members who made blind submission of SPEC OMP2012 Kit 21 result. The benchmarking was conducted by the SciAPT group on Mason. The result is available on the SPEC OMP2012 web site.

IU tests SPEC's new benchmarking suite candidates

As an associate member of SPEC/HPG, IU is working actively with other organizations to test every candidate kit of OMP2012 benchmkaring suite since Kit 10. All tests were conducted on IU's Mason compute nodes where each node has very large memory.

IU contributes MD code to SPEC OMP2012 suite

IU contributed the molecular dynamics (MD) code to the new benchmarking suite OMP2012 that SPEC/HPG is currently working on for share-memory systems. The MD code scales well on different systems.

SPECMPI2007 results published on the SPEC web site

HPA conducted benchmarking of SPECMPI2007 on Mason, and the results are published on the SPECMPI web site. The results include two parts, with varying numbers of cores. One set of results is for medium data. The other is for the large data.

SPEC activities

The manager of the SciAPT group serves as IU's representative to the Standard Performance Analysis Corporation (SPEC) High Performance Group (HPG) committee. As part of this committee, the HPG group has tested the recently released MPI2007 v2.0 suite and has contributed a suite component to the developing OMP2010 suite.
